Family days out this summer

If your children go to Braiswick, North, Queen Boudica or Myland primary, keep a look out in their book bag for our Summer Days Out poster! Stick it to your fridge and use it for inspiration for local, fun, low cost, car free family days out over the holiday.

Play days to explore local green spaces with a forest school teacher, free cake with The Cake Escape, real treasure with the Cycling Centurion Treasure Trail and the Bucket and Spade train are just some of the activities which are available locally and accessible by foot, scooter, bike, bus or train.

There are also ideas for sunny days out; and if it gets too hot (or rains – fingers crossed it doesn’t!) ideas for days out that take place inside.

Once you know where you want to go use our online journey planners and useful maps and other resources to plan your route by foot, bike, bus or train.

Encourage the kids to enter our summer competition and they could be in with a chance to win gold cards for Colchester Zoo for the whole family, family Odeon cinema tickets and more.

If you live in Mile End but haven’t received a poster, you can download our Summer Days Out poster here.¬†Then use the BFF ‘Families’ page to find out more and to plan your routes.
